Building a Granny Flat



Building a granny flat or a small extension to your existing house is relatively quite simple. It is required that the granny flat you plan to build must adhere to the policy on heights, site coverage, maximum floor area & building setbacks.

If the development is an extension to the existing house, which is different to a standalone granny flat, generally there are no lot size restrictions.  All granny flats are nevertheless subject to meet the requirements of the Building Code of Australia.
